Abalone Shell on Mirror

SOLD
White gumballs and an abalone shell on a mirror provide an interesting play of light and form. Notice the pearl shape of the gumball cupped in iridescence, the three holes in the shell echo the three pearl shapes, the sweep of the rim dancing with the curl of nacre on the outside of the shell and all this surrounded by the peaceful coolness of the mirror's surface. This composition was particularly pleasing to paint.
