Who made this place

of wandering water?

Maze of pickerelweed, 

sweet spicebush and skunk cabbage,

where guideposts 

of red maple,

not-quite drowned,

wait for the chisel 

of the architect-engineer

 in his glossy brown

beaver coat.

Not sure who these paddlers were, but that smile could  be seen a mile away -  a smile to make a dentist proud. Remembering a happy day paddling on the Bantam River this past summer. Gonna miss those days.

Kayak and Little Blue

Chatham 16 and a fourteen year-old Honda Civic - these have been like best friends to me. We've gone on some wonderful adventures, and though the boat is plagued with ants that insist on nesting under the seat, and the car has an embarrassing amount of rust - I love them both.
