First Cashmere Scarf

Painting has never been enough.

This is more than a two-dimensional world.

Let's wrap ourselves in art.

And allow ourselves to be comfortable with beauty.

Relax and appreciate. . .

. . . attending to detail.

This is a cashmere scarf,
knitted from yarn reclaimed from second-hand sweaters,
in a design of my own.
At sixty-three,
a first for me.

The Great Swamp

Maze of pickerelweed,
sweet spicebush and skunk cabbage,
where guideposts
of red maple,
not-quite drowned,
wait for the chisel
of the architect-engineer
 in his glossy brown
beaver coat.

This is an original watercolor, ink, and acrylic drawing on professional quality paper stock, approximately 4.5" x 4.5".

Pickerelweed

pickerelweed, lanceleaf, heartleaf,
steam side shelter to
frogs, snails, turtles,
and of course pickerel,
suspended in cool shadows
 waiting to taste tiny swimmers.
