this week.
My first sighting, by chance.

Out West

Another abstract landscape built up from strokes of sumi ink. The more time and attention given to it, the more solid and recognizable it became. 

Urban Sprawl

A one brush experiment
in strokes of sumi ink,
toned with cadmium yellow watercolor
to create a brassy effect.
The result seems to me like an aerial view
of rooftops, sidewalks,
reflecting pools, and grassy lawns.

Could've Been

These abstract brush strokes could have been
fish, or needles, or dried grass stems.
Could've been
that the movie runs backwards:
hurricanes build homes and lush landscapes -

earthquakes restore tall buildings and old cities -
floods repair roads, remove debris, stabilize hillsides -
and fired guns remove bullets and bring people back to life.

under a microscope.

Bonita Creek Trail

These are a few watercolor drawings from a camping trip

 in the Chiricahua National Monument. 

Small flowers along the trail,

an old fire tower,

small drawings appear.

Rose of Sharon

This is my artists meditation 

on the Rose of Sharon and Painters Pallet 

that grew in my Connecticut garden,

a flower from a Hong Kong Orchid Tree,

Pomegranates (the most Cubist of fruits),

and my sweet little "Bee Box",

a small ring box of turned wood 

with a gold bee stamped on its lid.

These four original watercolor drawings are done on professional quality card stock, which has been folded into a 5" x 7" greeting card. The blank card, signed by the artist (yours truly) and matching envelope are available for sale through EBay.
