Schlumbergera

Ready to celebrate
the return of light
after
the long dark nights of winter,
no holiday
or mark on a calendar
does Schlumbergera pay attention to
no matter what you call them.

This 8" x 10" colored charcoal drawing of a
flowering Christmas Cactus,
Schlumbergera Truncata,
was inspired by a visit to the Hill-Stead Museum
in Farmington, Connecticut.
Of all the incredible French Impressionist art
displayed there,
the two grain stack paintings by Monet
are my favorite.
See these paintings yourself
by taking a docent guided tour.
