This is a painting of the Housatonic River, standing on the shore in Southbury Connecticut, just below the Shepaug Dam, looking south towards Sandy Hook. Come here any sunny day in the summer and you may find a day laborer and his wife enjoying a quiet hour or fishing together. On the weekends, people launch kayaks and canoes while families picnic on under the pines in the grassy fields that border the river. In the winter, Bald Eagles fish, and the power company mans an eagle observation station which is open to the public. - Nancy Boudreau
