Mitchell Farm

Mitchell Farm in Southbury Connecticut, along the Housatonic River, under gorgeous skies. On days such as this, one can hear the droning buzz of remote control planes, being flown above in the upper fields. Corn grows on the flatlands along the river. The Shepaug hydroelectric dam, just upstream, quietly does it job, meting out water, so that there's always a dependable flow. - Nancy Boudreau

This is an acrylic painting, approximately 5" x 7" on gessoed matboard.

Still River

Kayaking on the Still River, where it joins with the Housatonic River in New Milford, Connecticut, there are long stretches of peaceful open water. Verdant views lined with a beautiful invader, the yellow iris, fallen logs perfect for turtle basking, rich and subtle colors reflected in the water's surface. - Nancy Boudreau

Looking Up The Housatonic

Standing in the same spot as the last painting, on the shore of the Housatonic River in Southbury Connecticut, just below the Shepaug Dam, this time looking north, upriver. Cold, clear water, running over a rocky bed, well aerated, a haven for fish. I love the fluid play of light and color in the river. - Nancy Boudreau

This painting is slightly larger than 5" x 7" and is done in acrylics on a gessoed mat board. The back of the painting is signed, dated and the words above are handwritten in pen.

Housatonic River at Shepaug Dam

This is a painting of the Housatonic River, standing on the shore in Southbury Connecticut, just below the Shepaug Dam, looking south towards Sandy Hook. Come here any sunny day in the summer and you may find a day laborer and his wife enjoying a quiet hour or fishing together. On the weekends, people launch kayaks and canoes while families picnic on under the pines in the grassy fields that border the river. In the winter, Bald Eagles fish, and the power company mans an eagle observation station which is open to the public. - Nancy Boudreau

The painting is 5.5" x 7.5" acrylic painting on gessoed matboard. The title and prose that appear above are handwritten on the back of the painting. The painting is also signed and dated on the back .

Shapely Fields

The fields along Spring Lake Road in Sherman Connecticut are manicured, seductively undulating hills edged with tidy trees, Elysian fields, a place of immense peace. This road is a favorite destination for a Sunday afternoon stroll. A walk from one end and back, past the lake, the hills, the nesting bluebirds and orioles, fills the soul with sun and a relaxed openness. This is a place that lives in the hearts of artists, one of which found himself living here back in the 1940's, through the difficult last years of his life - Arshile Gorky. - Nancy Boudreau

The painting is approximately 5" x 7" acrylic painting on gessoed matboard, unframed and not matted. Painting is an original, for sale through eBay directly from the artist. Painting is signed and dated on the back with the above comments handwritten on the back of the art.

Wild Roses

How does one paint the smell of wild roses? Or is standing in a field, painting wild roses just an excuse for bathing in their perfume, thick in the warm humid air. - Nancy Boudreau

The painting is approximately 5" x 7" acrylic painting on gessoed matboard, unframed and not matted.

Tree Buddies

Another painting of a field along Route 37 in Sherman Connecticut, filled with pink flowers. Two congenial trees, arm in arm, grow old together on the hilltop, watching the sun rise and fall. If trees could talk, what conversations would these stoic two share? Tanged nests of birds in their hair, the seasons passing like slow waves of heat and cold. Their feet in snow one day, a day later bathed in warm light, tickled with the activity of grassy roots rushing through their own short lifetimes. - Nancy Boudreau

The painting is approximately 5" x 7" acrylic painting on gessoed matboard, unframed and not matted.

Field of Pink

A field along Route 37 in Sherman Connecticut, filled with pink flowers, backed by the ubiquitous New England stone wall. What else is there to do with stones, when clearing a field? - Nancy Boudreau
