"I wanted to give up on this one - it was difficult - the flower was so crude, so woody. So, I did give up, and just painted, taking care of the little things, enjoying stroking the paint, smoothing the surfaces, delineating edges, laying transparent color. And finally it began to glow and show the tidy contours that I found pleasing in the original flowers." - Nancy Boudreau
