Downtown Phoenix Sunset 5

Painting these smooth curves, reminds me of ice skating, practicing basic figures. The more simple the shape, the more difficult the execution. Small flaws that would be lost in a more complicated scenario, find no place to hide among the clean lines of this painting.

This is the fifth in a series of paintings taken from my last visit to Phoenix, Arizona. Lodging at a downtown hotel and spending more time than usual in an urban landscape, I came away with rooftop images from a desert city.

This painting is about 5 x 7 inches and is acrylic on gessoed mat board, protected in a cream colored mat, and as with all these little studies, the text above is handwritten on the back of the painting, which is also signed and dated.
